Abstract

|
The chemotherapeutic responses were clinically analyzed in 55 patients with high risk gestational trophoblastic diseases who were admitted to the Hospital of Chonnam University Medical School from January, 1981 to December, 1985.
The results were as follows;
1. Overall complete remission was 87.3%.
2. The remission percentage according to the metastatic sites was 100% in lung or vagina, 20% in brain and 57% in liver.
3. The mean number of chemotherapeutic courses until the induction of complete remission was obtained were 5. 3 in stage I , 6. 2 in stage II , 7. 0 in stage III and 8.4 in stage IV.
4. In the patients with incomplete remission for a prolonged duration, it was considered to be a meaningful method that definite therapeutic modality should be explored with guidance of computerized topographic scan, ultrasonography or hysteroscopy etc. at the time of significant elevation in serum ¥â-hCG titer after the chemotherapy was discontinued.
